Sensory performance: along the trails of Anykščiai grove

Teatrariumas

In this performance, we seek to awaken the human senses through sound, taste, smell, and touch. Here, visual images lose their dominance and give way to imagination. During the performance, the audience members are blindfolded, seated on chairs, and for one hour they immerse themselves in the sensations of the forest, forgetting the worries of daily life. It becomes a kind of therapy and form of meditation that, through imagination and all the senses except sight, allows one to wander forest paths, breathe in the scent of trees and moss, listen to birdsong, and feel as though they are in nature — all without rising from their seat.

Antanas Baranauskas’s poem The Forest of Anykščiai is a classic of Lithuanian poetry. Its romantic elegiac tone, blended with elements of folkloric lament, expresses not only grief over the loss of the forests, but also sorrow for an oppressed homeland. For young people, it opens up ever-deeper layers of meaning and artistic insight.

This sensory performance invites us to explore and develop the often intense theme of the relationship between young people and the natural world around them. At its core lies a powerful and precise narrative of violence against nature and the life within it — a story that uncovers the essential causes and motives that have driven, and still drive, young people to engage in critical thinking and consider how to preserve the world that surrounds them.

Because of the format of this performance, it will be performed in lithuanian language only. However
