Contact improvisation workshop
To dance contact improvisation is to be in a constant creative process that allows you to feel yourself, others and, most importantly, the space that is created between the movers. Contact improvisation dancer and educator Aistė Jančiūtė invites you to this creative process of movement.
During the workshop Aistė will invite you to feel the naturally occurring communication through movement through the principles of contact improvisation dance such as gravitational force, giving and taking weight, different qualities of touch and playing with spatial movement compositions. After this workshop it will be easier and more natural to engage in contact improvisation and the performative action of the group KURTU, where both participants and performers will have the opportunity to explore the synthesis of sound and movement arising from a shared creative impulse.
Contact improvisation is an art form of dance and improvisation in which communication takes place through movement and contact with the other. Touch is one of the main tools of this practice, inviting us to discover new trajectories of movement. Free movement, bodily dialogue and non-verbal communication can bring unexpected insights into the self, the environment and the world.
Wear clothing that does not restrict movement. We will dance without shoes.
