Throat singing practice

Sedaa

We want to share the unique and captivating vocal techniques we use in our music — beginning with overtone singing. This is the art of producing at least two tones with a single voice at the same time. It is a skill that can be learned by anyone who has the ability speak.

Depending on the depth of the course, we continue with the second technique called „höömii“, the traditional Mongolian style of overtone singing. The third technique is „kargyraa“, or undertone singing. This allows the singer to drop the voice by a full octave, creating a deep, vibrating, and mystical sound.

Sedaa blends traditional Mongolian music with the sounds of the Orient, creating a truly unique and mesmerizing soundscape. Master vocalist Naraa Naranbaatar, trained in Mongolia, joins forces with virtuoso dulcimer player Ganzorig Davaakhuu and Iranian multi-instrumentalist Omid Bahadori to transport listeners into a truly exotic world between the Mongolian steppe and the Eastern sound universe.
