Meadow Grass ritual celebration
Meadow Grasses day in the ancient Baltic culture means the day of the Great Cosmic Mother, goddess Lada, who gives birth for the whole living world. This is the day of the highest point of In energy manifestation.
Known in ancient times as Queen of the Goddesses of Heaven, Earth, Water, Air and Fire, perceived as eternal world energy and life power giver, Lada represents great fertility, maturity and abundance.
That is why during the Meadow Grasses day we give thanks to Mother Earth for the harvest yielded and the beauty given. We honour her and take the blessings. Thankfully we gather the harvest, gifts of nature, the most beautiful flowers and herbs from the meadow, ears of corns. From the new harvest the bread is made, which we share.
Blesssed Meadow Grasses in the ancient Lithuanian tradition were used for protection and healing. Ears of corns were kept till the spring for the sowing time. Families have always tried to gather together on this day to ensure the coming year would be a productive one.
