Latvian folklore songs and tales
Inita Šalkovska
It can be said that I, as a narrator, am conservatively faithful to the traditional, ancient text. As a storyteller on stage, I'm not interested in telling something new, I'm interested in the truth. With a fairy tale, I can open the entrance to the common field, be in it and feel together how we are all under one sky. We all have a common job - to live life.
At the festival, I will tell the tales in Latvian, but everyone will understand, because I will also show the illustrations of my husband, the artist Mikus Čavarts. Mikus will complement the tales with the sounds of rhythm instruments. I will perform fire offerings and share songs related to honoring Māra and being grateful for human life on earth.
