Traditional wicker basket weaving

Traditional wicker basket ("Gorčius") – an ancient measure unit and a container used in Lithuania for centuries, made of rye and pine root. I invite you, together with me, to weave your gorčius, full of rye life, the smell of pine trees, the caress of the fingers, the strength of the earth. Together we will see how rye rotates between our fingers, how wraps up the pine-tree roots, how works a knife and an awl, everyone will experience and learn what we want – joy, laughter, maybe patience, relaxation, communication, not cutting and not pricking yourself, and smile when you get cuts, but it's already a metaphor of life – gorčius, gaia, vitality, liveliness.

Wicker backet weaving will be teached by archaeologist Simona Ramoškienė.
